Image Description: Tucked away in a back street used to access a car park just off High Street in Skipton is a rare gem. On a Lattice style Stanton and Staveley concrete column is a massive GEC lantern - most people call it a "Wembley", although considering it has a refractor glass bowl I personally think this may be a large "Oxford" lantern. As works to remove old concrete columns are going on nearby, this lanterns' days are numbered... so enjoy what may be the last photos of this lantern installed and in use.
Note the anti-condensation device fitted above the lantern.
The night time shot of the lantern in-situ had to be dimmed down on my camera, as it is really very bright! It possibly runs a 400w lamp - if it's running 250w then the glass bowl is working very well to produce main beams.
