Image Description: Once one of the main entrances to Leeds that was lit by grand SOX lanterns of 135w and 180w, Kirkstall Road's lighting stock is now endangered by both the PFI scheme and the Quality Bus Coridor project, which is seeing the road width practically doubled to accommodate bus lanes in both directions... a project that has been needed for many years, especially at peak times. The lighting used to consist of mainly Eleco Golden Ray GR200 lanterns running 180w SOX lamps (gear in column base) fitted to 10m concrete columns - some of which had double brackets. Sadly, the double bracket versions have already been replaced by Technopali columns and Iridiums fitted to them... but these pictures show what's left.
