Image Description: Testing of columns is spreading fast through York. This is another set of photos from the south and east of the city.

IMAGE 12

Images 1-4: Failed columns in Fossway. Image 4 shows why the particular column has failed. In this road there are 3 failed columns and 3 good ones.
Image 5: This column is on a bridge that takes the B1224 over the A64 east coast road and towards Naburn. The thorn jet was fitted about 15 months ago - and I don't know if it'll get reused.
Image 6: the very first column at the start of the B1224 (which then goes to the old A1 via Sherburn in Elmet), this previously held a dayburning top entry AC Ford AC 848 until it was replaced with the thorn jet about 15 months ago.
Image 7: This will be an interesting one for the crew to replace! It is located on a blind bend on the A19 in Fulford, a road that stretches from the A1M in Doncaster up to the port at Tyneside. The column is a Stewart and lloyds type, but is older than the normal ones in York - this one was most likely installed in the early 1950's, as it looks the same age as those still extant in Skipton.
Images 8 - 10: Three in a row - all on one side of the road between Heslington Lane and St Oswalds Road, on the A19 in Fulford. These columns are again the old S&L type columns with hinged doors and double slot locks. Two of the columns have a staybar outreach with double support bars, making them look similar to trolleybus poles. The ZX3's fitted will date back to 1997/8 time when the majority of York's main roads got relit with these lanterns.
Image 11: Melrosegate: testing has reached Tang Hall. I believe this to be the most easterly of the testing in the Heworth & Tang Hall area at present, as there is a column on the bridge behind which crosses the former Derwent Valley Light Railway which looks like it'll fail testing, and it hasn't got a cross on it yet. Likewise there is no signs of testing on any of the streets going off Melrosegate, such as 5th Avenue on the left and right, or along Tang Hall Lane itself.
Image 12: another column on Melrosegate, standard S&L type.
Image 13 & 14: Heworth lane - these have only just been tested, as these columns were blank when I came past two days previous.
Image 15: Mill Lane, both visible columns on the left hand side have got the cross. The foreground column has had the base highlighted where there is a rust hole.
