Abandoned GEC mercury installation

Imagename: Abandoned GEC mercury installation
Image Description: In St Martins Lane, just off Micklegate in York city centre, were originally three wall brackets with glass-bowled GEC lanterns running mercury lamps. 2 of these have been changed to jets, but the middle one remains. However, I have realised that it's an abandoned lantern, as the GEC control gear box that was on the wall next to the front door of the first house on the left has gone, as has the fuse box and the supply cable (check google street view, it's still there) and this lantern does not work any more - which may explain why the next house along has a PIR floodlight installed.
