Image Description: various pics of the mercury installations in the terraced streets around the Leeman Road area of York. These are likely to be some of the last MBF lanterns to be removed in the city.

IMAGE 3

1 - an unusual leftover lantern, this solitary GEC lantern (Possibly a Z8430) has a glass bowl. Whether this gets replaced with the rest of the lanterns, I do not yet know - as there are two skips in the road below the lantern, and a scaffold pole has been threaded through one of the hoops in the bracket. Due to it's size and the bracket it's mounted on, I wouldn't be suprised if the through-streets that carry traffic (such as the road behind) were originally lit by these before the Z9464's were installed on the brackets.
2 - same lantern at night, due to how very bright it is, I'm presuming it runs something more powerful than a 125w lamp.

3 - one solitary Jet has been installed. this is new since my check two days ago on Friday, and is serving as a "warning shot" to keep me on my toes! this after-dusk picture shows the difference in light output between these 42w fluorescent lanterns and the 80w mercury ones beyond.

4 - I stumbled on this Thorn Beta 79 - it's the only one running a mercury lamp in the city

5 - general view of one street at dusk - the beta 79 in Image 4 can be seen first lantern on the left

6, 7, 8 - two or three streets had QSS's installed on new wall brackets, possibly about a year ago. The redundant GEC Z8691's were never removed
