Image Description: This has been an area of York I have never really gone through... I've gone along the two main roads around the perimiter of this area of 1960's housing, but never through it... until today. Most columns are standard 1980's concrete's with either Phillips XGS lanterns or WRTL 2600's, so nothing really worth noting there....
... But at road junctions and corners, the original columns to the roads are still in place - and those are worth a note simply because of the unorthodox lantern choice and installation. Phillips MI8/Phosco P226 internally geared side-entry lanterns have been adapted to be fitted top entry on the brackets, and it does look wierd!

One columns is being replaced - the old column has no supply anymore and so is due for removal. The last picture in this series looks down one road in which two of these unusual installations can be seen.
