These have now been identified as iGuzzini Wows (yeah, I know, the name makes me say just that)! Thanks JakeB!

This lantern has been identified by Phosco152 as a Coughtrie PW domestic light fitting. Thanks Phosco152!

Mercury replacement in process at Galtres Grove

I think the Fairway Stela's were a trial to see how well they spread the light out - because otherwise it is South Bank that has Stela's and then Water End has some Vexica LED lanterns too. I think the main issue has been cost - as Galtress Grove was part of the bulk column replacements last year where well over 2,000 columns were changed... However I do think it should have ben a Jet, as the old lantern was mercury, and normally mercury lanterns are replaced with Jets - as a sort of like-for-like in terms of light output.

I didn't get any part of that particular one as it went when I wasn't around. I do have a swan neck from one of these Stanton 7 concrete columns - they're rather big and weigh a ton! The lantern there was a GEC Z5590 - and to be honest it has been on borrowed time since 2010 anyway, being a mercury lantern.

Yes!  I walk past it a few days a week.  Did you manage to get the swan neck and/or is it a GEC or AC Ford lamp unit???

The concrete base is still in the ground (as of today), with some black insulation tape holding the gear access cover plate and the usual yellow electrical hazard warning tape wrapped over the cut top.  It's been like that since they cut the column and so they really are behind with work - just like you said in your other post with all the great info about Lendal :) I guess the new column is going to be a SON just like Flavian Grove round the corner, which got replaced a year or so before the work started on this one I think.  I don't know why they haven't put one of the Stella LED heads up like they have used in Fairway, I think they are fabulous.

I thought you might have spotted that. The column later got cut down just above the base.... before it was removed fully a few days later.

It's not group switched. You can see the two-part cell stuffed into a tube part way up the pole.

Here's a photo of the same view with the original MA60s (which the Trafficvisions replaced in early 2007) here: http://www.flickriver.com/photos/nicoho ... 005561543/ You have to scroll down about three-quarters of the way to see the image!

This Revo Horizon and it's shovelflood have bene on my list for a while. The site is likely to become offices for Hiscox insurance - but within the last 2 weeks the car park has been reopened temporarily.

Shiny new Furyos (which must have been installed this morning as SGS203s were on these columns yesterday) stand on Frinton Mews in Gants Hill. They replaced ZX1s on Fabrikat hockeystick columns after the completion of a footway improvement scheme. I can't really see what has been done here, but I thought it was rather wasteful to replace the lighting as well, especially as it was only 17-18 years old.

The Sainsbury's Savacentre in Beckton, Newham, East London has recently been refurbished and has had what look like LED lanterns installed in the car park, replacing a few WRTL HML400 high-mast installations. If anybody can identify these installations, I will be very grateful!

LED lighting has invaded the A127 at Gallows Corner in the form of the WRTL Luma, replacing 3 year old Iridiums, which replaced MA60s back in early 2009. Whilst this scheme might seem wasteful on the surface, I bet the savings the LEDs have on TfL's electricity bill compared to the SON Iridiums is amazing! I also saw one Luma dayburning and was quite impressed with the colour quality of the light! I don't think these are the prettiest lanterns I've seen though, especially in terms of the upward tilt! I also noticed that some SON lanterns on the roundabout (Iridiums and some SGS203s and ZX3s) were being replaced with Airtraces! I haven't got any pictures unfortunately because I didn't see them until too late, but next time I go that way I'll try and get some pics!

Midland Road still has a small surviving stretch of SOX, the best lantern in which being this GEC Z9454 installed on an S&L column.

Great Stanhope Street is lit by a couple of MA90s, the foreground one of which is mounted very low, but it could be running a 55w SOX lamp as opposed to the usual 90w.

On Manvers Street is an Iridium installed on an S&L column. It would've replaced an Alpha 3. Even so, I don't think it looks bad on this column at all and rather suits it to a tee!

Here's a bit of an abstract shot that I thought you guys would like - I happened to pass this fountain just at the right time so that it sprayed water level with the lamp post and make the double brackets and SGS203s look like they were floating on a column of water!

On Avon Street, by City of Bath College, this SGS203 on an S&L column stands. It probably replaced an Alpha 3, as Bath town centre seemed to use a lot of them until a few years ago, according to GSV images.

New King Street is lit entirely by GEC Z9454s, with a single GEC Z9531 near a small square of houses just behind and to the left of it.

These have been identified by Sotonsteve as Holophane eStilos (many thanks Steve). I saw these lit on Friday night and can confirm that they run SON (pretty bad really, as replacing the SGS203s, which also ran SON, seems pointless), particularly as some of the SGS203s were replaced with new ones back in 2007 in a casual replacement scheme.
