Thank you for taking the time to make a suggestion however.

Indeed, thanks for your suggestion. If you're experiencing difficulties in navigating the forums, the advice I always give to members is to click on 'view new posts' on each login, rather than manually browsing through the forums. This only pulls up the topics that have received contributions since your last visit.
Certainly we don't want to turn into DigitalSpy where there is a new topic created every hour, meaning topics that are only days old can find themselves buried deep in the forums in no time!

Just an observation mentioned with resurrecting old threads being one of the taboos of an internet forum! Being as this forum has strong moderation, I thougt i'd mention it!
However, I realise that this forum doesn't have a big active member base or daily post counts of other forums so implimenting it will be awkward. I'll not mention it again.
Thanks for responding!

You're right - it wouldn't work on a forum board of this size. Maybe this suggestion will be more relevant in the future - only time will tell.

I have recently noticed that Google Maps has a custom maps feature which allows uses to create a map for specific or specialised points of interest with markers, labels and photos.
if we created an account to which we all have access then we would basically be able to develop and update a' Ukastle map' to map out UK streetlighting, and track how it changes. It would also be useful for keeping tabs on survivors from the past.
Thoughts anyone?

Hi Silverray, thanks for your suggestion. It would be an incredibly large project (a bit like our Wiki, which has been underutilised) but I'm certainly intrigued by this idea.

This year has generally remained quite static in terms of site development, which is probably a good thing in the interests of stability. However, our Twitter feed has proved a novel way to capture street lighting news and other posts of interest. There's no obligation to 'follow' as it is all publicly available.
Just to keep members informed in what changes are likely to be introduced during 2015...
-Removal of the 'about us' slideshow on the homepage -Integrate Twitter feed into website (if at all possible) -Review of Site Team -Modifications to the Forum Board Index to make it more user-friendly for all browsers e.g. by doing away with 'recent images' -Start preparing for UKASTLE's next site refresh, which will be introduced no later than January 2016
If you have any other suggestions/ideas, please use this thread to share them or send me a PM.
