Post subject:  Loose Lamp Caps

I've got a load of MBF lamps with loose caps.

Basically is it as simple as unsoldering the cap from the lamp and gluing the cap back on?

What does one need to secure the cap to the lamp?

You could try superglue.

The cement used for the cap dries out and they become loose. Don't use superglue or any other type of normal epoxy as most of these aren't suitable for temperatures above 70c. MBF lamps get hot! I have fixed several of mine using a high temperature resistant epoxy from RS. I think it was rated at near enough 200c which should be more than adequate. No problems so far. Alternatively hold the cap and not the bulb when inserting into the lamp holder.
