Why do people think that businesses will suddenly ditch the mercury lanterns or convert them when the ban comes in? There will still be bulbs available to buy (old stock), but no more will be manufactured. Some businesses might have some spare bulbs anyway which will keep them going for a few years yet. Stop panicking everybody!  ;)

Our evil overlords specify that mainstream retaillers are not allowed to sell these lamps beyond a certain date. This has already happened with 60w GLS lamps in the main shops like B&Q, Wickes, Homebase, etc... though Toolstation have some listed in their Clearance section.

I'm sure there will still be examples in circulation, does the ban apply to eBay as well for example?
