... but would you say that's an XGS104 up on that finned Stanton? The location is Leyland Buisness Park, which is situated just north of the town beside the WCML. On a couple of journeys a few years ago I noticed big finned stanton columns with XGS104's on them but I could never pinpoint the location, all I knew was that is was somewhere close to Leyland Trucks and that the columns had a brick wall behind them.....

I think it's actually a Beta 2, a better view of the lantern can be seen here!

London Kings Cross (or The Cross to some) with a tungsten lantern in view.

A good selection of images there! Mind you, I don't think I've ever heard it referred to as 'The Cross' and I've lived in London all my life!

Ah yes so it is! All the same it is still mounted too high up.... Just a shame the XGS103 on a stanton of the same height outside Kings Lynn has gone and isn't on streetview otherwise that'd be a good comparison photo.

Location: Colchester, Essex
Currently being sold on Ebay is this old slide showing a preserved Alexander Leyland towing a Glasgow trolleybus in 1978:

But what on earth are those lights!?

Check out these fluorescents in this 1950s photo of a Blackpool Brush railcoach.

Some photos I came across today in a book about buses from the 1970s:

I posted previously in this thread... wrote:
King's Cross has recently undergone re-development work. I thought I'd link to a photo from 1988 of the frontage. We're not just interested in the SON lanterns here; have a look next to the stacked portable buildings and you'll see an old concrete column. Can anyone determine what the lantern is?

King's Cross 1988

This is the view now with contemporary needle columns.

This evening's broadcast of The Flying Scotsman: A Rail Romance (BBC TWO) showed the frontage of King's Cross in 1963:
