Yeah, the lanterns are beautiful, but they'd look much better installed on cast iron or ex-gas installations. Yes, the columns are very nasty and look like cheap CCTV camera columns with those brackets plonked on top! As for the brackets, they are very obscure and remind me of those horrible brackets you see in West Sussex with Sapphires, but a mirror image of them! Not Redbridge's finest hour, but I suppose they were short on money and wanted to improve the streetscene somewhat.

I would agree that the lanterns are beautiful and that these installations are such a shame! Not only are the columns on a budget, but as you both say, the brackets are horrendous.

Post-top Furyos, anyone?

There is something not quite right about the way they have been installed. Furyos are now the standard lantern for Westminster (instead of black Iridiums), and they look really stylish down there. Unfortunately, Redbridge has got the colour scheme wrong here; white columns and blue Furyos. I'm also not liking the post-top - they look far better installed side entry in Westminster IMO.

I don't actually mind this installation (as I always associate Residiums with SOX even though most of the time they are of course PL-L!) but perhaps the FGS223 would have been more suitable than the FGS224.

Oh I like it - it's quirky! It's wrong and yet looks right, somehow.
At some point, I plan to try this with my Residium (which is the same size) on the ex-colchester giant bracket - but with a top-to-side-entry converter fitted!

I have got to see this in real life as it looks rather quirky fittted to both the bracket and the column.

Mazeteam, who was responsible for this abomination at the Highwayman Cafe on the A64?

Probably the cafe themselves, I wonder if we could 'improve' the lighting for them, similar to that proposed job in Rotherham with those Alpha 6's.

I've been waiting to see if anybody would spot that!
it really is absolutely terrible isn't it?! A highway hockeystick and then a cluster of floodlights bolted onto the end. I've only been past at night (between 12midnight and 2am) so haven't been able to get pics myself yet.
The best upgrade you could do of that is take the bracket off and fit an abacus orion - otherwise you need more columns.

I've known about it for ages but forgot to post it up. As the saying goes, cover them up as they look a.......

Not in 4 years have I seen them lit. I've also wondered what they were originally.

Spotted one today from Moston (or something like that) between Fflint and chester - a top entry concrete with a top-to-side entry converter, and an alpha 1 fitted! WIERD!
