Sorry I'd had a long day  :roll: You're right, the American one was built way after the South Bank display but nonetheless, Phosco152 points out that they serve two very different functions.

Very true. I doubt any similar exhibition would happen in modern times, especially with all the hype about carbon and such... but even if it did there wouldn't be much variation in column design compared to the old designs.

The design is good, but presumably when stated about electric car charging points located in the column base, these would be connected to the mains - because otherwise all the power would be drained from the lantern just to power somebody in a little smugmobile that hasn't planned their journey properly!
