I've just recently made my new site here. It's very new still and has no pictures yet but I'm hoping I will be able to add some soon. There is a links page so I want to know from people with sites here if it's ok for me to add them.

My only experience of lighting in Lincolnshire was a postcard from Ingoldmells which had some sleeved concrete columns with GEC Z9538s on it so it will be interesting to see what exists in the rest of Lincs.  ;)

Mike has updated his site and mentions the lantern that Phosco saw, as well as my 2 lanterns I gave him.

I like those Adastra columns - 136 in survivors from the past.

It is interesting that Mike's Sol D'Or has blue paint inside. The 3 I rescued all had silver paint inside which appeared to be factory applied.

Simon Cornwell's info on the lantern mentions a "hammered grey" finish yet the blue paint in Mike's looks original.

I love them columns too. I'd be interested to see what a Revo Prefect or Beta 4 looks like on one.

I also like that GEC Clearmain Z8403 (#35) lantern and column. Wonder if it would power up if connected to a power source???

Sometimes i'd love to have a little generator handy for that!!!!!

Well, I think I have found out why my website isn't working.

After a bit of careful trawling through the directories, I found two files uploaded in october in my /lighting/ section which I did not upload... one appears to be a mass email php script and the other appears to be a configuration file possibly relating to an SQL database. the more worrying bit I found was a batch of folders within themselves whereby the name was made to look like a query string - like this: "x-user.ashx/edirect=trusteer.interstitial.url&fallback=go.ashx/FONLINE-LOGON&condition=trusteer.enabled" - there are three folders there as the /'s divide them. Anyway, I had a look into the contents of the final folder and there were Natwest online banking logos and a page made to look like a logon page.

Long and Short, my site appears to have been hacked and a phishing site added to it. So I'm not best pleased at this, and have sent a support request email to my hosts to see what they're going to do about this.

I'm trying something interesting for my website...

I have configured the site so that EVERY webpage type of file will be redirected so it is passed through a file that parses it. This works in a similar way to the bbcode parser on this forum, so that when you write [ url ] somewhere [ /url ] it is changed to < a href= "somewhere" > somewhere < /a > (but without spaces). My parser finds all normal html links (like that second bit of code) and removes them - this is so that if a file is hacked and links to viagra and porn sites are inserted, the parser takes them back out again! The parser will also take out any redirection script request so as to stop a hijack of a page by hacking. The parser then looks for links written like [customlinkfield:page.php]linktext[/customlinkfield] and changes it to < a href= "page.php" >linktext < /a >, as well as other custom built tags like it, and then insertes what is requested.

The parser also looks for stuff within the page, namely a certain META tag (if you click "view - page source" if in firefox, or "tools - view source" (i think) in Internet explorer, you'll see META tags at the top of the code)... if the META tag is found and written the way it wants, the page will be loaded... if it isn't found then a warning page is loaded. In this way, if my site is hacked and pages added without me knowing, those pages are highly unlikely to contain the requested information, so the warning page is loaded. Therefore, if somebody uploads a spoof/fraud site designed to look like a banking site to get peoples' bank account details and then sends people emails linking to it, anybody clicking the email link will get a warning page telling them to be wary of the contents of what they are trying to view.

I am hoping that this will protect my website against simple hacking attacks and hijacks so that my website can get it's trustworthiness ranking back up again...

Anyway, if it works I'll think about registering the program in some way.

My new street lighting website

I haven't done much with it in the past month with the rush towards christmas, but in January things should take off. I used the same theme design I used for when I was back in Scotland, with a blue background/yellow font. I think it's really cool, like SOX light under a gradually brightening morning.
