It's been mentioned here before, but Pontefract Baghill railway station has/had columns no more than 3m tall, with ZX3s fitted - minimum wattage 150W!
I have got a photo, but it'd take ages to find as I took it years ago.

Five years ago I stumbled upon this titchy installation. I believe the street lighting on the footpaths of this estate are owned by a housing association rather than being adopted. The columns themselves are quite short, about 4 metres, and the lanterns are main road lanterns of the Tamlite Tamcrest variety. Based on how bright they are at night, I would say they must be 150W SON.

And here is a photo I took with my cameraphone at the time:

I seem to remember seeing a Tamrise mounted at around 2.5 metres. :?

I posted these pictures a couple of years ago but I think it's worth me re-posting in this thread as they really are 'titchy'! These Phosco P108s and P567As are from Stratford-Upon-Avon:

Here's a classic titchy installation on the Isle of Sheppey, and it's not even on a column! It's a piece of pipe attached to the side of an electricity station which has had a bracket and integral-geared MA50 slapped onto it. It must be a privately owned installation and has probably only been installed to light the electricity station for workmen working on it at night. It does seem a bit overkill now though, as there is an SGS203 in close vicinity lighting the roundabout.

It seems to have been standard practice, to use reduced height lighting columns on camping and caravan sites for many years now. Usually, the demands for such installations is dictated by the location of the site (often semi rural in nature) and the minimal traffic encountered.

Here at Great Birchwood Country Park in Warton, Lancashire, the circtitious  access road is lit by numerous short columns. They are all hexagonal tapered designs, which actually look like repurposed ex LA sleeves. Others use the simple curved tubular bracket arm. As the columns have no original access door, the service cable is terminated via a separate connection box at the base.

Lanterns for the most part tend to be GEC / Siemens, although commercial SON floods are also used. Some of the lanterns have been crudely fitted to the bracket using a flange plate attached through the GRP canopy, instead of the dedicated side entry spigot.

The whole installation is an interesting if neglected service. There are plans to redevelop the site for housing, therefore they may not be around for long.
