these under high voltage cables on the A1 Western Bypass Newcastle these low columns previously supported SRL8s on the slip road to the left and MRL6s in the central reservation on the main carrigeway.
Further along from the previous examples there is
this strange installation again on a very short column but only a single installation but there are no cables or obstacles. As the installation in on a Viaduct crossing Blaydon industrial estate and the River Tyne it could be smaller to require a smaller base plate for structural reasons. In the past the Stella power stations were just slightly up river from here so it could be that this was a previous route of cables from these stations that were closed in the late 80's i believe.
