I have often noticed how streetlights can be installed incorrectly (and often are). All the time, I see main road installations on side roads and the other way round. Sometimes, you even see group B at 8 metres, but it is more common to see group A at 6 metres.
Here's an example to kickstart this topic

And then of course, we have this!

Group B on a man road is (unfortunately) rather common.

And the other way round!
clicketh (Replaced a few months ago  :(  but we still have this)

I can't wait to see what you find!

Your first example is due to the road being under the approach path for a runway, hence the short columns.

I know of a good example, but it's not on Streetview....

Leyland Buisness Park in Lancashire spreads out beside the train line from Bolton to the WCML just south of Preston, and at one point after a private road bridge are 12m Finned Stanton concrete columns.... fitted with the entry 35w Phosco P224 type lanterns (top entry version)! I keep trying to get a photo, but it is on a 4-track section of line and my train is always on either line 3 or 4 furthest away from the lanterns. Hopefully if I get a manchester-scotland train I'll be able to get a better photo now, as they've just been re-routed via Wigan. The trains go at 100mph past them, so I still cannot guarantee a photo!

Forgive me, Acacia Cat, but what are these columns supposed to be doing? They look like ordinary columns to me.

As for seeing 55W SOX lanterns at 5m, that is pretty common through out a lot of the UK, especially in places like Bath and areas around Swansea and Scotland. A 35W or 55W lamps are often seen in these lanterns at 5m.

Something a little bit excessive in Llangurig - they have some Thorn Alpha 2000s at 5/6 metres! Perhaps they would be better suited for a tanning salon at that height!

There was until recently two of these on this street.

Both were out, this one was repaired, the other was replaced with a 90w lamp

Just remembered this one burning 50w SON

Now gone when they fitted RF to the street (replaced with MRL6s)!

This private installation still remains

http://goo.gl/maps/xq9BX - there is about 15 on the estate, but they seem to burn something stronger with a whiter light.

They have recently been serviced and the non workers make to work

Not so much a missmatched installation as a miss matched lamp and lantern

http://goo.gl/maps/27HiH - Beta 5 Burning 50w SON. I believe it is likely these were done in house. There are about 30 remaining on this estate and a few more in the Wasdale Avenue area of Breightmet, Bolton. I think there are couple of conversions in the midlands too. Not sure why it was done, as at the time the council had been fitting 79s and so on.

They dont seem to interested in fixing them or replacing bowls now and are replaced with SRL8s at any opportunity. (possibly also an issue with ignitors)
