These buildings that were derelict in the 1950s here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/wiltshire/content/ ... 1.shtml?14 are still there, and still derelict to this day!

Well that beats York's White Swan Hotel in Piccadilly!!... all I know about the hotel is that throughout my living conscious I have never seen it occupied! The lower floor had a chip shop in it years ago, but the hotel hasn't been in use for well over 20 years, apart from when some squatters broke in and put up a peace sign in the main window.

I find something very creepy about old hotels...

I actually have a picture of that derelict building. It's only about a 10 minute walk from where I live [opposite the Tesco which used to be an outside swimming pool!] I'll try to find it amoungst the digital mist.

USL will reconise this as it's taken from where he was standing when I picked him up.

Those lanterns would have been new as it's shortly after the railway bridge was widened from a single way bridge to a dual carriageway.

Another view showing the lantern I was on about. The white cinema is long gone and is where M&S is now.

Here's the newest picture I can find:

Aye thats the column type that i was mentioning, the harp bracket. I know that there is some in Surrey somewhere, in Sussex mainly in Littlehampton they have a couple of Bleeco's columns near to the Lighthouse there sadly they have been converted to CFL and a bowl stuck to 5 of them the remaining 6 have the original refractor but is too CFL.

When i get the images off the camera i'll get them scanned up.

The remaining Harp brackets are mostly found around Haslemere in Surrey. Like this one.

Well since this got lost with Ukastle 2, time to reload it - A blast from the past in Salisbury - Endless Street probably late 1970s/early 1980s. Note the Beta 3 above the bus.

Same location summer 2009. The Beta 3 wall bracket is by the estate agents "All Enquiries" sign and now has a Beta 79 on it. The building at the end of the row in the background has had a bit of a makeover.

Found some old films on Youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5FPFQSUMTU shows some Festivals from a 1959 film.

This channel has lots of historic footage from the BFI archives:

It's Cambridge... home of the Richardson Candles. Also, where my mum and dad first set up home, but that's irrelevant!!

It looks like the columns may be the same but fitted with replacement brackets and obviously new lanterns.
