Hi All, There are some lovely old Revo Lanterns in Cheltenham on Rodney Road. I don't know if these are still in service or not https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.89957 ... 312!8i6656 Some more from Cheltenham, again I don't know if they are still in Service or not as it was a few years ago since I was there https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.90686 ... 312!8i6656 Also another nice old installation in Salisbury https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.08863 ... 312!8i6656 It would be nice to think that this installation is still there. Let's just hope we can save as much of this stuff as we can before it's gone forever. Andrew. |

It's surprising how all intact they are, Andrew. Thanks for sharing. |

GreatNorburyStDepot wrote: On my way back home, I came across some survivors from the past in quite surprising locations. The final "cop" of the day was on Mill Lane, just outside Blacon. This was one of those third gear observations, having first of all noticed the Premier Inn which I was initially looking at staying at, followed by this relic which seems to be in their car park. This is certainly a survivor from the past! Further to my original report posted back in September, I can now add some further photos of this remarkable survivor in Bache, near Upton, Chester. Attachment: DSCF6209.JPG [ 1.22 MiB | Viewed 14391 times ] The reason for being back in the Chester area, was that I was on my Honeymoon and very enjoyable it was too! It therefore made sense to re-visit this location, as the previous images were ripped off GSV. This vintage column is interesting in many ways. I can now confirm that it is still substantially intact although obviously no longer in use. I have been trying to find out what was on the site before the Premier Inn was built, but no joy so far. The column looks to be 1930s in origin. It is also sectional in construction, being in two parts connected via flanged joint. Been a while since I've been on this account... A couple of weeks ago while stuck in traffic I noticed these unsleeved concrete columns still in place in Longfield when I glanced over to my left through a little cut-through pathway. Longfield used to have plenty of SOX but a lot as been replaced with LED Phosocos and LED Iridium 2's. Still, nice to see them, though they probably won't make it much longer. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.39962 ... authuser=0 https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.39922 ... authuser=0 |

GreatNorburyStDepot -- what a fantastic find!! Thanks Alpha 3 too for those surviving top-entry Beta 5s; if memory serves correctly, Longfield has always been quite SOX heavy compared to other villages in Kent, which have tended to favour SON. |

Hi All, A few weeks ago I had a trip to Birmingham, whilst I was there I spotted some lovely old what appear to be Revo Diadems. I also spotted a Revo Hatfield. There appears to be a lot of work going on there at the moment so now may be a good time to approach the council's etc. https://www.google.com/maps/@52.4908248 ... 312!8i6656 Once I find the Hatfield I'll post the link. Regards, Andrew. |

Eleco HW852 in Lechlade-on-Thames, and another one here. On a roundabout north of Highworth in Swindon Borough, a handful of GEC Z9555 "Bricks" cling on for dear life. There are lots more in the Google 2015 imagery than there are now. There is also a single survivor in the town centre. |

Some 1950s relics still survive in Ricksmansworth, Herts - but not for much longer as the wholesale LED conversion will surely see them replaced. GEC concrete column with GEC Z5646 lantern, 35W SOX. Another example but dayburning. Extremely rare Revo Angelo column, sleeved with a Beta 5. Makers name on door. |

Looking at the LED installations nearby I doubt these still survive but its a surprise they lasted this long. https://www.google.com/maps/@52.4489952 ... 312!8i6656 My favourite https://www.google.com/maps/@52.4422541 ... 312!8i6656 |
