Where can collectors obtain SOX lamps from?

Would Harrison Electrical (Halifax) stock them?

If not, council but would these be free or would we have to pay?

I get them from ebay.

However, i have not seen anything above 90w on there.

Some streetlight depots may give you one or two (I got a 90w and 2 135w from AMEY) but it'd be adviseable to give them something for the lamps.

35 and 55w are ok from ebay but tend to work out at more than a tenner a lamp with postage which is expensive. Lamps bigger than that tend to get broken in the post as the arc tubes are long and fragile -and yes strictly the lamps aren't supposed to be posted. Try depots if you can. They have to pay to get them disposed off so are glad to get rid of them. A donation will ensure you get remembered in the future.

I'm after some lamps. Used all my spare 18w, 35w and 90w SOX lamps up. SEC will not part with any lamp of any kind.

Ebay seems the cheapest at £15 for a lamp.

Chris, can you put aside for me please 4 lamps. Phosco im getting paid tomorrow so i hope to get the order off ASAP. unlike last time when i ended up loosing 2 of the stamps then the envelope got wet and stuck.

This Lighting Wholesaler (Lamp Specs in Surrey) seem to sell just about every type and wattage of lamp that an enthusiast could ever need*, with MBFs starting from under a fiver and SONs starting from under a tenner. The bad news is SOXs start from, ouch, £23.

Prices exclude VAT and postage. I'm afraid I haven't ordered from them, but a quick 'add to basket' exercise reveals you can order individual bulbs. Just beware there is a larger postage charge for bulbs longer than 3 ft, and a larger postage charge for orders under £10 (for example, one 80w mercury will cost you £16.73 including postage and VAT, but two 80w mercuries will cost you £13.86 including postage and VAT).

*with the exception of the 180W SOX bulb

I couldn't find any discharge bulbs for sale on Harrison Lighting's web site, but they did sell me a 250W mercury bulb a while back, as an accessory to an old lantern I bought from them, so it's worth keeping them in mind. As I recall, their customer service was impeccable and I would highly recommend them!

A couple of us on here have used Lampco, they have a wide range and stock some of the more obscure/obsolete lamps. They do 140w and 200w SLI lamps for instance and although they list 60w types I believe they are actually out of stock. Before you all rush out and get 200w SLI lamps be warned they need a special ballast which are like hens teeth in collectors circles. 140W SLI can however be run off 90w SOX leak gear.
