Unless it is a 2 part cell, in that case you would require a relay.

As Mike says, I well imagine this is a 2-part cell. Does it look big enough (ie with a box attached) to hold a control circuit, or is it quite simply a cylinder that is fitted through the canopy? because if it's the latter then you need a relay controller from a P42 or similar.

For all NEMA and minicells:

Blue = neutral
Brown = live supply
White = switched live to load

So basically, brown to the mains and white to the ballast.

Would this be why the cell on my Arc does not appear to be working then?

As you can see from the wiring, blue is on the left, live on the right. The middle terminal does nothing but the cell has its live on that part. This is how it came to me - it acts as if the cell is not present on the circuit or malfunctioning, ie it dayburns.

The incoming mains live should go to the middle of the terminal block. It will dayburn if its on the RHS. If the live does go to the middle, then the cell is duff.

The previous owner obviously bypassed the cell.

Actually, that would be me then as I wired in the supply. I saw that it was blue - blank - live on the terminal to ballast and thought I should just mirror it on the incoming. Can't believe I didn't see that as it's plain as day. I shall fix it at once!

I am looking to buy a Part Night MiniCell.

Not bothered if it is 2 part or not, but either way the relay box must be pretty small.

I see Lucy Zodion make them but cant find anywhere that retails them.... Any ideas?

Zodion make them. Lucy is a supplier of cut outs not photocells. Have a look on Ebay, the 2 part cells and controllers come up on there often.

They are under the Lucy Zodion together part of the Lucy Zodion website, hence why i called the company Lucy Zodion

http://lucyzodion.com/types/photocells/

Ive got a nobrand simple dusk / dawn cell from Toolstation as a put-me-on, till i find a part night mini cell.

I have a NEMA part night cell controlling another lamp at the rear of the house that i could link in to this lamp but its 20m away with no easy way of hiding the cabling.
