I have currently wired it as Live from the mains and load to the lantern. Z8896 - is that the lantern you mean? I think that's the right code for it anyway! LI - live in, unswitched supply to cell LO - live out, switched output to control gear of lantern |

Mazeteam wrote: LI - live in, unswitched supply to cell LO - live out, switched output to control gear of lantern Aye that's the lantern I mean. So the LI is from the mains and the LO is to the lantern its self as I am using a minicell, that black one from the last depot visit which only just fits into the 'PCB' or Photocell Control Box which is a small box attached to a piece of wood located next to the paved section in my garden. |

On a minicell, I believe it's the white wire that is to go to the lantern supply. (and cutting the yellow wire makes the bomb go off!! ) |

That was generally true in the past, however nowadays with the move to electronic switching rather than thermal and the reduction in size of components, both types now use near enough the same "insides" so reliability should be comparable. The advantage of a photocell is that when it goes wrong it is a 10 second job to change it, not so with a minicell! |

It appears that SELC have brought out a new version of the SELC 841 NEMA cell. A standard SELC 841 is pictured below. However in Salisbury, this version has started to be used. The body, even the slight reduction in diameter at the base, the position of the detector and the window all appear the same. I wonder what the yellow body signifies? |
