UK 80/125W MBF tended to be 3BC, where as continental lamps were ES. 250/400W UK MBF are giant ES (GES). 80/125W ES MBF tend to be more common on Ebay nowadays than 3BC.

3BC lampholders are impossible to find new now, so the use of ES lamps in the smaller wattages is the way to go. Those of us who have 3BC lanterns usually have a good stock of lamps to fit them.

ES, 2BC, and GES porcelain/ceramic lampholders are all easy to find new.
