That's very good of them using LEDs... There is a petrol station near me that uses mercury for the 'under' lights, and mercury in GEC Z8830s [I think that's right, SRL8s anyway] and these just dayburn all day and all night!

Yep, MBF lighting is still quite widely used in petrol stations. Barton Stacey Shell on the A303 has them in the large prismatic type lights and there was a Sainsbury petrol station in Southampton that used them  - and they hadn't been relamped recently - and there was an erie green glow on the forecourt.  :?

That's the one that's near me too I think... And the MBF Z8830 is actually no longer lit now after being a very very dull green for about half a decade!
