Earlier this year the Asda in Killingbeck were flogging 10 CFL lamps for 50p.

Probably the only way they can sell any! Personally I still go for tungsten 40w bulbs anytime, they're better in every way I can think of (except the higher wattage of course!).

I'm after a 5x 4 pack of 25 W GLS lamps. No shop in Brighouse sells them (including Oddjobs) even the run down market no longer flogs them, I've tried Huddersfield no luck.

I'm wondering if the phasing out will be down to town stock so once its gone - its gone.

I believe B&Q sells 25W GLS lamps. I certainly know mine (back home) does.

My local Asda had tons of 25w GLS lamps for sale - try yours!

Nearest Asda to me will be the one at Bradley Bar, about a 15 - 20 minute cycle. I'll have a look tommorow, well later today.

The Fleetwood store definitely had a lot of them and that's not one of the really big stores.

I've managed to get a couple but more of that will be in the Collections thread.

Just looking at an ILP document from 2011:

T12 halophosphate fluorescent tubes were due to be phased out in 2012
Mercury lamps are due to be phased out in 2015

Apart from old stocks on Ebay and other specialists in old stock, T12 halophosphates do now seem to be extinct.

A review into the phasing out of inefficient lamps and ballasts in the EU is due to take place in the next couple of months. Essentially this is to ensure that the timescales and efficiency criteria are realistic based on technological developments.
