aahhhh! Actually, 58w will be much easier anyway - as I already have spare 58w ballasts. I was using one at the old house to power three 18w tubes in series (I never considered whether this shortens the lamp life, but generally fluorescents aren't as tempremental with incorrect gear as other lamps are... in the 24w PL-L Beta 5 of mine, the lamp runs off a SOX ballast!). The lampholders were from box lights I'd stripped out whereby they'd failed so I got any serviceable parts out of them - they're useful ones because 1 of every 2 of them has an integral starter socket so I don't need a seperate socket.

The Revo Festival and the Little Chef lanterns take 5ft fluorescent tubes btw... so unless they seel 5ft's then we couldn't use them in a Festival. If they do do 5footers then I think my festival may work its way into my cabin!

Hmm, it may work for another collector - Thorn Minipack - Or are they 5' too?

No they're 58w, so it would work.

Image from Transformation Tubes. Another firm that sells fluorescent tube covers, which I stumbled on rather by accident! Prices start from £1.40+VAT for a 300mm T5 upto £3.20+VAT for a 900mm T12.

They also sell heat-resistant coloured filter sheets which, when cut to size, would make an interesting addition to a flat-glass luminaire!

hmm... interesting, especially as they do ones to cover PL-L tubes too!
I'm tempted for ones to go inside my Festival - however they are saying the filters last for only 1 year. Encapsulite don't state how long they last, but I've been using mine for a few years and they haven't faded yet.

Could it be the guarantee that the sleeves last for a year?

Maybe, I'm not really sure.
