Hey, I'm new to this forum and I do not know much of the technical side of street lighting however I have recently learnt to identify some lanterns. Firstly please forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong place but I will get straight to the point. I'd like some help identifying some common and what I think are some rarer lanterns, I will start with more common ones since they're the ones I need to know about sooner. I will provide an image (from street view) plus the location if you need to look for yourself. Thank you to anyone who is able to help even in the slightest.
Firstly, there's these what I think are Thorn Alpha 3s
https://ibb.co/HpF9qyj these I know are high pressure sodium ones, did they also get fitted with mercury bulbs? Their location is Whitby, High Bridge
Secondly,
https://ibb.co/rtZqD0v I think these are GEC Z8830 these ones are located in Skelton, Tintern Road but can also be found at Loftus, South View in the car park and Loftus, Westfield Way behind a crash barrier.
https://ibb.co/h1D6npM These look like Philips SGS 201 often previously found where I live but they produce a light like a low pressure sodium light cycling from red to yellow, what are they called? I will provide more images of them located elsewhere. Also note the fancy column and nice paint job. This light is located at Anlaby, Cayley Road but similar ones can be found at Anlaby, Pryme Street, Anlaby, Hildyard Close and Willerby, Blackthorn Lane.
https://ibb.co/80xkHPw this is one at Hull, Osborne Street not far from the Age UK building mounted on a 10m column which is strange to me having never seen them on anything higher than 8m.
https://ibb.co/wdT7pbx this is an interesting one at Hull, Waterhouse Lane near Princes Quay, are both of these also low pressure sodium? The sky blue and white paint scheme was common in Anlaby and the surrounding villages being used on all side roads and some bigger roads however it is generally not maintained and I have not seen posts painted since the mid 00s and new posts are simply not painted. Is there any significance to the decoration on the first SGS 201 lantern and the colour scheme used in that area?
https://ibb.co/7v9yHm5 I have no idea what these are, I only ever saw them in Hull, they were located around Hull, 21 Osborne Street and also Hull, A165 near the Travel Lodge
https://ibb.co/f0jY6Ht and
https://ibb.co/fD2vYtq I believe these to be GEC Z9454 but I am not sure since many lanterns look similar to me, these ones are located at Pickering, A170 around Street Lane intersection but they can also be found at Pickering, Potter Hill where the road forks. They used to be heavily used in Whitby, Old Malton, Malton and Norton too.
https://ibb.co/wN9PYw3 I think this is an Eleco GR501? They used to be quite common in my area. This was located at Loftus, The Station Pub/Hotel on Station Road.
https://ibb.co/TLfc64F this used to be directly opposite from the aforementioned 501, I have no idea what these are and I never saw the upper one working nor have I seen an identical lantern before thought I believe it to have been low pressure sodium.
https://ibb.co/94640vp I also have no idea what this is, this was located at Loftus, Zetland Road near the Coop, there was never many of them in my lifetime.
https://ibb.co/TrN1V0S here's a somewhat out of place looking ma90? (or 50 i dont know) that was installed in the mid 00s but removed a few years later, I think it had replaced a light of the same model as previously shown that was the next one down the road. The MA was replaced around 2010 when Redcar and Cleveland council was undergoing a county wide lantern and column replacement scheme that started around 2008, many of the columns were simply painted a forest green and not replaced. Now LED lights started to come in the past 3 or so years and many of the lights that had replaced the low pressure sodium ones are now gone after less than 10 years and in some cases the LED lights are still getting mounted on the old columns that were painted to look new.
