Browsing the Philips website, it appears that the SGS102 (Malaga/Streetfighter) has been discontinued. The SGS101/102 were previously linked together but the SGS102 appears to be no longer listed. Philips do seem to run their website quite unusually with lanterns disappearing and then reappearing, however it wouldn't surprise me if the SGS102 was discontinued. It didn't really ever take off like its smaller brother. I've only ever seen one SGS 102 in real life, and that was a replacement for an Alpha 8 (MKII) but other more recent replacements are Thorn Civics and SGS203s.

However I am glad to mention that the SGS203/403 and the SGS201 are still listed, but I guess both have (and still are) receiving extensive use. There is also a new variation of a lantern that has appeared however I shall let you have a look for yourselves!

Hmm, interesting, I did see little point in the SGS102 now the Iriduim seems to feature within Philips so much. Also the SGS102/201/203 and Iridium are all 70w SON capable and it seems daft to have so many duplicate lanterns especially when there is a recession and demand for the older models must be a fraction of that for the Iridium.

I know many people are fans of the SGS101/2 ('Malaga' or 'Streetfighter') series, but I've always seen little point to them too. They use quite old technology when compared to the Iridium and Selenium, and have never been as popular as the SGS201/3. I personally have never liked the aesthetics of the SGS101/2 either.

I've just been back on the Philips website and it looks as though the 'Malaga SGS101k' is still there.

Yep. It only seems the SGS102 is discontinued. Wise move. I think.

And they have added a LED Residium option!

I agree wise move - SGS102 resembled the Selenium! Don't forget that at one point there was a '103 and '104 as well!

Don't you mean SGS203/4?

Nope. There was definately an SGS103 and SGS104 for a limited time.

I'm not purposely trying to disagree with you, but in Philips language, wouldn't an SGS103/104 be a SON version of a MI26/36?

:D  don't worry, I understand your doubts - I was extremely shocked when I first heard of these two lanterns too as I felt there was absolutely no point of having them! They followed the Malaga/Streetfighter design and took higher wattages.

This European website proves their existence.
