OK then, I shall sort it out over the next few days. At the moment it's in a filing cabinet in my cabin along with some of my other catalogues - but it is the most interesting one I have as it solved a few mystery lanterns to me. Chester is a big user of Kingswood lanterns, particularly in the heart of the city centre. |

Thanks. I never knew Kingswood made some non-heritage lanterns as well so I'd be particularly interested to see those. |

I believe that the lanterns for the platforms at Manchester Piccadilly are by Kingswood, as they offer dual optic options for some of their lanterns. In the catalogue they offer acknowledgements for photos taken... places include: Cheshire East Staffordshire Rhuddlan Nottinghamshire Brent (London) Humberside Kirklees Kingston Upon Thames Sefton Enfield Paris Chester Belfast Dublin Macclesfield Derby Newcastle Manchester Arbroath Doncaster and the Crich Tramway Museum There's no copyright claim or date on the catalogue, but judging by some photos it is a fair few years old now.... especially as they offer data tables on 5.25" or 3.5" floppy disks! The modern lanterns are some fairly standard post top fittings. They work with Industria and so they offer the 2000 series as well as other lanterns... though their reworking of the 2015 is interesting. |

Typical, I was only at Piccadilly the other day but I never noticed the lighting! I think it was SON though which is strange as all the other stations from Manchester to Blackpool (except Salwick) have MH lighting, mostly ZX1s. |

This article is particularly interesting in showing a wide range of non-generic heritage installations. One of the most extravagant has to be this type of installation found in Barcelona. I saw these back in 2004 and are very impressive, however, there other installations present along the road to boost light levels which implies they aren't very effective at lighting the road! |

I wonder if those in Barcelona run tungsten then, if they aren't bright enough to illuminate the road. |

Urbis Saturn Land wrote: I think it's more to do with weak optical performance, especially since they're quite spaced out. They don't run GLS but rather a combination of SON and mercury/MH as shown in in this night time image. You'll also notice that the base of the column doubles up as a bench. The columns were designed by Gaudi. |

Alex when you said that they ran a combination I wasn't thinking that before looking at the photo, I thought the lanterns were dual lamped. |
