The Altra can come with a refractor bowl, and I have seen some with refractor bowls in West Sussex, but Hampshire specify the more cut-off version as shown on the Urbis website.

I forgot the Altra had a cutoff bowl... I remember now, because they remind me a bit of Phillips MI36's crossed a bit with a geared MA90!

There is also now LED versions of the Aresa. Looks much better than such shovels on a stick like the WRTL Stela.

Quote:
Lumen maintenance L70 (*) = 60,000 hours (at ta= 35°C)
(*) L70 means that after the indicated number of hours, the luminaire will
maintain 70% of the initial luminous flux.

So the nominal light output will last for 60,000 hours. An average year has 8760 hours, so the lantern will last for 6.84 years before needing a new LED unit if the lantern needs to operate at full brightness.

8760 hours is on 24/7, I think for streetlighting a figure of around 3000 hours per annum is quoted as the running time, so that would give 19.97 years life, so call it 20 which is a round number for marketing purposes....

Approximately on the 18th August 2029 is when the lamp will fail, within the market purposes stated.

D'OH! I didn't calculate each day as having 12 hours of darkness (given seasonal variation)

20 years lifespan isn't bad! I heard the WRTL Stela was only likely to last for 6 years before needing replacement! If that's the case then the Aresa should kick the Stela's butt! I wonder if the actual lighting levels are better with the Aresa than with the very poor Stela though?
