Over in the L&SE thread, I mentioned about WRTL Lumas and Phosco152 wrote: Pic here. Well sotonsteve and I have now spotted more Lumas but with all the LEDs lit, here. Comparison between the 2 shows 140 illuminated LEDS in the "pattern" and 200 in the other version. So it looks like it just a way to vary the light output. |

There are WRTL Lumas on slip roads to the eastbound M62 somewhere near Warrington, I believe. Saw them with Stelmer a few weeks ago. |

Does anyone know if the PTBT series lanterns (an updated version of the GEC Z5713) have the cone/bowl attached to the canopy by screws or held on in the same way as the GEC version? |

Same way as the GEC version by means of that ring which also holds the canopy clamping the bowl down. |

On a trip to Portsmouth today I couldn't help notice the deteriorating condition of some MRL6s in the city. The lanterns in question were installed only a year or two before the PFI, and I remember them when brand new. This was only around 10 years ago. However, looking at them now the canopies are shedding fibres and looking grubby, and the polycarbonate bowls are yellowing. It's something you see with the Philips SGS203, but in my experience the MRL6 hasn't historically been so bad. I've seen many older MRL6s in better condition. It leads me to question whether the quality of the product was reduced by WRTL, perhaps to reduce costs, around about the time when the Arc was launched as their flagship product and the Vectra offered an alternative to the Arc. |

Well, judging by the omission from the WRTL website, the MRL6 and SRL8F have been discontinued. It was only a matter of time. |

MRL6s were always a favourite of mine, I have also noticed they tend to look a bit grubby nowadays as well. |

I also notice the MRL6 has gone from the website too. None have been installed in the North East for nearly 10 years now. Seen some new ones in Cumbria and Scotland a few years back but all of the flat glass variety. |

Still a fair few around here (south west Scotland). They're mixed in with Alpha 8s and Arcs which seem to be the standard casual replacement these days. |
