Yep that is correct! :)

Though the Alpha 8 isn't metal either...that has a GRP canopy. The SGS403 is definitely fully metal, I think the SGS203 is half metal, half plastic, though I'm not really an expert when it comes to SGS203s!

Bombproof, maybe. Blackpool Prom-proof, no! I 've seen several Alpha 2000s with their canopies ripped off after severe winds on Blackpool Prom over the years. Loads of them have been casually replaced with Vectras which ironically seem able to withstand the battering much better!

Yeah, Alpha 2000s are so bulky, they're clumsy. I've seen a could examples with a missing canopy on a motorway over-pass, and not to mention the Bath examples literally hanging off their brackets.

I really like these Poole Riviera installations. I have seen them by the Ferries at Poole. I like the bowls and they're generally quite nice to look at!  :lol:

An Alpha 2000 will only come open if not properly closed and secured, or if the stainless steel clip at the front is damaged through misuse.

Agreed, the clip is quite "severe" so should hold it shut. Same as the Iridium and Sapphire, if properly secured, they won't come open.

The clip strength is similar to that of the QSM... keep fingers out of the way otherwise it'll have 'em!

TBH, blackpool gets a battering from the elements most of the year anyway... I've got a pic of the prom where waves are lashing up and along the prom and a jubilee tram is trying to navigate through about 3-5 inches of seawater (which isn't best for a good electrical earth connection), so the lanterns themselves will be constantly bombarded with gales and the odd bit of spray from the sea.
