I am looking for photos of the P109s control gear and how it's mounted under the canopy. Mine was an eBay purchase and the control gear has come loose.
Did they make more than one canopy decoration part which wraps round the canopy? I appear to have a non standard design similar to the P111. I wish to make a new part and make my P109 more like an Edinburgh one.

Although I don't have one of these, I do have a version of the smaller version (the P111) - and normally in these phosco lanterns where the top lifts off, I believe the control gear is held on a removeable tray, which is held in place onto the metal bar which the lampholder fits on to.
Is it definately a P109 you want info for? because the P109 is a tall heritage lantern with a fancy top (looks like a crown)... because whever edinburgh lanterns are mentioned, I think about P107's.

The P107 is still in production, at least it is still listed on the CU Phosco website. It must be one of the longest lasting lanterns that is still in production today and very few design changes - Edinburgh has some dating from the late 50s.

I've noticed that myself that the P107 is still getting manufactured, although only now available with SON or MH. Comes with either a clear or opaque bowl.

Looks like a few of the previous options have gone though... no Bowler Hat lantern anymore! Also, I wonder what the insides are like on it... because the P111 has been redesigned so that the top has a gear tray in which the SON/MH lamp sits horizontally with reflectors either side to eliminate upward light. The P107 might be the same.

I'd like to see some P707's installed, they look interesting....

I like the P707 range too, especially the P707 Real, extreme chinahat! I've never seen any of the P707s installed anywhere though, does anybody know of anywhere they can be found?

There is one P707 Camino in Southampton, and there are some in Guildhall Walk in Portsmouth.

Ahhh you've seen them now too!

They're Phosco P75 'Jubilee' lanterns.

Is it just me or does the post-top lantern featured on the last page (P530) looks very similar to a Gamma 8? The P172 is certainly one I haven't come across - obviously local authorities preferred round post-tops at the time and could not be convinced to go for trapeziums! Has anyone ever seen a P172 in situ?

I haven't... maybe sotonsteve or Phosco152 might have down their way. The design looks a bit like a Gamma 8 - but then again the GEC ZD817 baby flying saucer can look similar too... it was design copying like we have today with egg shaped lanterns.

Then we have the Lollipop designs (P178/9/222, GEC Z5680/1/2, Gamma 3/4/5) - again, awfully similar designs. For some reason, the P75 Jubilee reminds me of a sugarcube - I've no idea why.

Cheers for the identification Mazeteam. PS, I thought they look more like white Dolly Mixtures  .
