The Beaufort 3 is the half bowl version as apposed to the full bowl in the 25. There looks to be a few decient bowls that can and will be saved. I will try get at least 1 of the lanterns fixed up and restored. It's as much the memories from my school years as well as being a fan of that style lantern.

I hope so! If there are spare parts left over then I'll offer them here and see if anyone can fix another one and restore it. The one at the back of the school is the best as that entrance doesn't get used as much as the main entrance. Sadly not one of them work. I can only asume they were/are MBF. I asume sox is too big for the smaller bowl?

Thats the front entrance. You can move about to see the rest. The one at the back entrance is down an entrance google don't go down and is hidden by a tree, but here is a photo I took of it hoping it would be on. No such luck.

The condition of the lantern looks good to me, if successful in rescuing them could you post the result in the relavent part of the forum.

The dangling wires suggest some internal tampering to me. Hopefully the canopy is still there, because if it isn't then you'll have to find a good one from another lantern, which might be hard if all the others are damaged too. They will be running either GLS or MBFU as they're too small for SOX as you say.

If you can, do try and save the bowls and support structures even if the undercanopies are broken (as the SV pictures suggest they are, since they've dropped down below bowl level). If the height of the support structures on these is the same as the height of a B25 then I may find a use for one, but will have to check a nearby village first......

Does that mean you have found a Beaufort 25 to rescue? If help could be offered to get those at that library, then there would be plenty to go round.

I know of part of one to rescue, but the support structure is buckled and this has broken the bowl. The land is a former car garage and on my last check was due to have a handful of houses built on the site. I may already be too late, but if a replacement bowl (even if it's a smaller type but still fits) and support structure can be sourced then I can try and save this one whilst you try and save the school ones....

Here's 1 of 3 on a former pub site... kinda on the 'wrecked' side though

Might be gone now given that Goole maps are a fair bit out of date. Looks ok other than the bowl missing which may mean other non visable damage. It is a shame to see them going damaged or being taken out with a demolistion site.
If I could get enough parts from the school ones and a B25 bowl, I might do both the B3 and B25.

Two more locations...

Salford (some have gone but 4 remain on the other side of the building apparently)

Surrey (these may run tungsten lamps)
