How about these Beauforts (or other similar lantern). They are privately owned and probably don't work anymore.

A pair of Falks Beauforts outside Maidstone fire station. However, the cones look odd, the nearest has less of a taper than the one in the background and on both, the lower end looks to be too larger a diameter. I wonder if they were originally open versions which have had "diy" cones fitted?

I have this photo from 2008 of a lantern in a front garden in my nan's village of Birchington-on-Sea in Kent, which I remember Mazeteam identified on SABRE back then as a possible Falks Beaufort lantern.

These are Hume Atkins E5890 lanterns rather than Falks Beauforts. Aside from the cylindrical opal double open ended bowls, note that the canopies are formed of a single piece of spun aluminium which is open bottomed, and that the support spines curve beneath the canopy and enter the optical part.

It appears that the smaller bowl is less common. I've found another in Fife, due for removal early next year!
I didn't think they were used on public streets, only private property, until I saw the ones in Fife.

I got another Beaufort 25. I'm going to clean it & paint it, then it may be up for grabs.

Nice... let us know (with photos) as you progress. I'm still after a Beaufort lantern anyway......

I'm doing a cosmetic repaint on some parts. I'm a bit worried about posting it though being so fragile. I'll post photos of it finished. It's in great shape with only minor chips on the bowl.

I started the restoration, but only  managed to paint a couple of metal parts under the canopy painted. A nice project for someone to finish. It's on eBay
