An article in Lux Review states that 2015 is the final year for the Urbis ZX range, which is being discontinued. It has been a popular lantern, found in many parts of the country, but it's time has come. |

I'm going to make a bold statement, but after the last 2 years I'd suggest anything that isn't LED is pretty much considered obsolete. |

SilverRay88 wrote: That is a bold statement, and in a way I agree with you, as councils who still install non-LED fittings are becoming a bit 'old hat'. However, looking at the wider picture, there are lots of countries in Europe that are really slow on the uptake of LED technology. The UK is one of the largest adopters of LED street lighting. Some countries have only just moved on from installing new mercury. |

Indeed, I've just been to Northern Cyprus and just about all the side road fittings are MBF lanterns, with only a handful of SON-H retrofits. |

After the news last year that the Urbis ZX series was being discontinued, the ZXU1 and ZX3 have now disappeared from their website. |

Is it just me, or is CU Phosco the last of the traditional "main" manufacturers selling street lighting in the UK still to offer discharge lighting? Looking at websites for the likes of Philips, Schreder and Thorn, they only show LED street lighting on their websites now. If so, casual replacements of discharge lighting is going to be challenging if not wishing to opt for LED. |
