Most SOX survives around Cheam & west Sutton
Loads of SON also survives mostly being green Sapphires 1s as well as Indal Arc, ZX1,ZX2 and Iridium.

Most LED was installed in 2013/2014/2015
with Schreder Axia 1 & Teceo being used.
Well looking at the council’s website
twenty roads are going to get new LED street lights with columns by March 2024. Don’t know which but hopefully the SOX survives.
https://www.sutton.gov.uk/w/safer-green ... provements

The CU columns in Holland Avenue, Cornwall Road, Avenue Road, Balmoral Way, Station Road, and The Crescent (from Station Road to the A217) have been replaced in the last week. The columns in The Crescent were replaced today. The only SOX lighting that remains are the lanterns on steel columns. I don't know what the LED lantern is that most have been replaced with is, although Philips ClearWay Gen2 have been installed on Holland Avenue.

The ZX1 lanterns on Homeland Drive have also been replaced with LED.

What a shame, made worse by the fact that this is the final London Borough to retain its SOX lanterns (albeit on side roads only and quite a large variety of lanterns too) and had the largest stock of concrete columns in London. At least the SOX lanterns on the steel columns remain, but for how much longer is anybody’s guess. What do the LED lanterns look like?

That will probably be the end for the GEC Z9454's as I don't think there are any on columns that are not concrete. A few P224's and P226's might survive, as will most XGS103's and XGS104's if they are not replacing the SOX that is on steel columns.

At least those will remain a bit longer, since they’re not on concrete columns. Shame about the Z9454s though, as Sutton still has a large amount. Fun fact about Sutton is they have the newest stock of concrete columns as most were still being installed in the 1980s. The only other borough that has a large number of concrete columns (on side roads) is Waltham Forest, although most of them have been sleeved and support ZX1s instead. These are on borrowed time, however.

It will be interesting to see what happens to steel columns that have been used as casual replacements in streets that mostly have concrete columns although I suspect that these will either be replaced with new columns or will be retained but with LED lanterns fitted instead.

On the stretch from Holland Avenue up to The Crescent, there is now only one GEC Z9454 remaining, on Queens Road. I imagine it won't be long before it's removed.

The new lanterns are Schreder Axia 3 Evo.

It’s definitely a shame to see them replaced now, atleast the ones on steel columns survive, but for how long? I definitely think that the council will replace them quite soon as there is a mismatch of SOX & LED.
The new LED lanterns are Urbis  Axia 3 Evos, a more cheaper version of the Axia 3.  Sutton is the second place that I know of that uses them, with the other being Bristol.

Do the columns on Grove Avenue survive? It’s a privately owned Road, so as long as the street lights are not council maintained they might still survive.

Edit:
Does this unique triple Column survive with the Phoscos P226s? I guess since it’s not concrete it’s still there.
Located on the intersection of Colborne Way & Ebbisham Road.

If they remove the SOX on steel columns eventually, then it will be interesting to see what happens to 10m columns on side roads where they are at a junction with a main road.
For example this 10m column with a Philips SRS201 that was installed in 2013.

I found some fluorescent post-top lanterns on an abandoned land in Chingford. Can anybody identify them?

That is a Revo Solaris. Used to be some down my way many years ago, but long gone.
