So we are all aware that the GEC fluorescent lanterns at Blackhorse Road Station are now gone, but what interests me is that Waltham Forest council has done a mass replacement scheme with CosmoPolis lanterns as late as 2021. Some columns have been retained, but have had their lanterns and brackets replaced with this: https://maps.app.goo.gl/d1JCgxu68KgmbUZ59?g_st=ic. The previous lanterns were Thorn Alpha 8s, with several casual replacements of Urbis ZX2s. I’d imagine the former were trial installations during the 90s before they started installing ZX2s as their preferred lantern.

Lime Walk Bracknell the car park is managed by Euro Car Parks on behalf of
The Harvester Horse & Groom but the street light is Owned by Bracknell Forest Council and now has a new column double the height of the existing one. Another GEC Z5670 is about to be replaced in Bracknell. Nearly every street built between late 1960s and early 1990s had them. Until 2016-2018 when the LED upgrades replaced most of them.

Removed sometime in the last two weeks, but still no lantern on new column.

I’m going to list some SOX stragglers I’ve found in Waltham Forest!

Further down Boreham Close just opposite the police station, stands a GEC Z5678. Seeing as the column door has been removed at some point, it’s unlikely that this is still in nightly operation.

On this small cul-de-sac just off The Drive, stands another GEC Z5678. If you click on the June 2014 street view, you’ll notice that it’s dayburning, revealing that it still runs SOX!!!

A couple more GEC Z5678s can be found near the block of flats just off Beechwood Drive. Notice that the columns are unpainted too?

Seven columns containing Philips XGS 103s can be found outside the community centre on Priory Court.

Spotted these wonderful SOX stragglers on concrete columns in Tower Hamlets!

Kitcat Terrace is still clinging onto this single Thorn Beta 5, which is possibly the earlier version dating from the 1960s! I presume these installations would’ve been prevalent all over back streets around the borough before the SGS 203s replaced them in the 1990s. Sadly, this lantern is long out of operation, owing to the columns in the foreground.

Spotted this inside an alleyway off Franklin Street, which I believe is another 1960s Thorn Beta 5. Fortunately, this one actually still works, although it is now dayburning from what I’ve checked.

I’ve also spotted this top-entry swan neck example nearby, although this one is heavily vandalised, sadly.

I’m unsure how this one managed to survive! An Eleco GR501 can be spotted on the access road to the Locksley Estate. I’m unsure if this one still works at night.

Yet another 1980s Thorn Beta 5 survives on Wolsey Street. I don’t think this works at night.

If you think there’s no more MBF lanterns on concrete columns in London, think again!

A GEC Z5590 can be seen surviving in plain sight on Tarling Street! Again, these installations would’ve been prevalent on back streets around the borough until the 1990s. Sadly, this lantern is long out of operation, but it’s an absolute miracle that this wasn’t removed!

Another swan neck example can be seen surviving on Mount Terrace, just outside the Royal London Hospital. Sadly however, the lamp is EOL as I last saw it glowing dimly several years ago.

An identical installation to the previous one can be spotted on Toynbee Street, however its days appear to be numbered due to the ongoing construction work.

So spotted this in Bracknell a post mounted Luma gen1 was replaced with 2 gen2 Lumas on a double bracket. Quite useless as even though there is a staircase the the other Luma will just light up the grass area.
Was installed in the last few weeks so no Streetview of it yet, but here it is before. https://maps.app.goo.gl/fLPFzdYNCCQaNFNV7?g_st=ic

Check this out! Google Street View has caught one of the Cherry Pickers on Ben Jonson Road, who appears to be replacing a failed driver inside a Philips CitySoul Gen1. The contractor is Bouygues, which suggests that they’re responsible for the street lighting in that borough.
