@SilverRay88

AriaLEDs do indeed look nice (I still prefer vmax though), however the AriaLED's night performance it terrible compared to other LED lanterns.

Yes it seems that NYCC are now using V-MAX instead of Iridiums. A lot of AC Ford and GEC mercuries in the Whitby area are now under ownership of NYCC (Hambleton DC previously) and are being replaced with V-MAXes, it is a shame to see them going but I am glad that they are starting to use the V-MAX instead of the horrible AriaLED

I think the same.  It amazes me how the same company can produce such different products.  TerraLED which is great and AriaLED which is awful, but then I'd say the same about WRTL and their awful Stela and their quite pleasing Luma.  I have seen some V-MAXes and think they are quite stylish as well.  I do think it's a shame that Councils/Manufacturers haven't gone for a Warmer White option because as yet I haven't seen any LED fixture that doesn't seem glary to me.

In Carlisle unfortunately due to the mass replacement scheme all the interesting stuff is going. We have one Alpha 5, three Alpha 3s and a handfull of MA50s and Alpha 4s left. At the end of this year all 90W SOX and anything greater than 100W (others) will have been replaced. The Beta 5s and GEC Z9491s are safe for now. Although there is a purge on to get rid of concrete columns!

Regards,

Andrew.

Yeah there's a similar theme here for the concrete columns. Several have been cut and capped and are awaiting replacements... but the council applied for special funding for a PFI-style mass replacement; the word on the breeze is that an external company will get about 6-8 weeks during the late autumn to rush through as much as possible.

I noticed from the train that the A630 in the Doncaster borough (the train was closest to the road at Conisborough) is now lit by the 'Clipper' lantern by Advanced LED Lighting... whilst the A6022 which passes under Swinton rail station, in the Rotherham borough, has had the same treatment as most other main roads in that district and got 4-unit TerraLED lanterns fitted. What I found rather funny though is the old concrete columns with Eleco lanterns on are STILL there despite having had replacement columns alongside in use for at least 3 years now, and the disconnected concretes have now even outlived the lanterns that were orignal on the replacement columns!

In Scarborough the LED upgrade continues and it looks like the v-Max is the preferred lantern now.

Yep.. V-Max for main roads and Holophane Factor for side roads. York's been using these lanterns too, the V-Max because it's the cheapest from the main companies!

Before October, all of York's 35W and 55W SOX as well as remaining MBFU is to be replaced for LED by an external contractor.
