Stanton 8D, with a 6ft outreach bracket. Once very popular all over England, the survivors are often sleeved. |

Never seen that type before. The Stanton 8Ds I've seen were more steeply curved and had triangular brackets. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.73737 ... 312!8i6656 |

Those are even more impressive. Several types of bracket were available, the curved ones seemed to be more common than the angular ones. |

I always find it interesting that lighting columns often survive even though the surrounding area may have been demolished a good while earlier. It is almost like the contractors are reluctant to topple such things with their JCB, just in case a column is somehow connected to the municipal mains. Mind you, it would be loss to Ukastle folk if they did! |

Some amazing things on private land but it's unlikely you'll find so much as a concrete lamp post stump around Luton's public roads. I always find it interesting how some replacement schemes on public highways often miss one or two old lamp posts. Are they over power lines or just outside the house of someone important? |

LED conversion seems to spreading to the towns NW of Glasgow although a few relics, some private, still exist. Near Dumbarton this cast iron column with a Philips Mi26 has been forgotten after a modern column was installed nearby. There is no cell on the lantern, so it could well be time-switched from the control box on the bracket. Near Helensburgh, these GEC Z8526s on curved columns are a private installation. There are 6 columns in this installation, light source unknown. At the other end of the town is this classic mid 1960s S&L column with swan neck and what looks like a deep bowled Arc. Using the GSV time machine, we can see it used to sport a top entry Thorn Beta 5. At the Erskine bridge, new Abacus hi-masts with Lumas have been installed. Interestingly the old hi-masts which look like GECs, had been retrofitted with Lumas when GSV went through in August 2016. Back in June 2015, they were still SON. |

The new ones on the Ekskine are actually TRT aspects and i'm sure the columns are Mallatite although i'm not 100% sure. |
