I am able to help you, a little bit... :)

The first one seems to be this one, and... it is an unknown one to me. And I must say that I have seen it only two times.

To second one is definitely a GIRARDIN 3820, which has also become extreme rare nowadays. I have only seen it in disused areas...

You can also see a classical French luminaire in your photos, the MAZDA EPA.

To finish about French streetlighting... I could say that the PHILIPS HRP you have pictured was one of the rare products that France and UK had in common in 60's.

Lantern ID is not my hot subject - I was never much good at spot the difference quizzes.

So these are probably quite easy, but i'd be obliged if you can help out.

https://goo.gl/maps/yH3p47sjtY1USKyh8

https://goo.gl/maps/kKHfaHfq872Tfv3T9 - was Sox now strangely effective with an LED retrofit. - That estate used to have a right old mix of oddballs, but its thinning out a bit now.

https://goo.gl/maps/5jEtJsMVt33sBa977 - Sox

https://goo.gl/maps/Nkestk4TSrwi4Mnk6 - increasingly fitted with LED retrofit lamps and pretty damn good they look too.

https://goo.gl/maps/qqSqci82GRwfh67s9 - until recently this street was 95% these - seem to be dying with gear failures, what wattage are these beasts?

https://goo.gl/maps/CMFfpCFfaJHvMVzX9 - oddball casual replacement

https://goo.gl/maps/9G2pob9v1dvff58WA - again lots of LED retrofits appearing in these.

The first looks to be a P157, which is actually a 90W lantern, although 55W SOX would fit.

Thorn Gamma 6.
Thorn Gamma 6 wide wide canopy.
GEC Z9480.
Probably GEC Z9554, but possibly Revo Hyperion B, they look very similar and the image from GSV isn't good enough to tell them apart. 135W SOX.
Philips Selenium.
Phosco P153 on a CU Avenue 2D column. Quite a find, lantern and column.

Lamp looks to fill bowl when lit, so possibly running 90w!

Bury have a couple of MA series 90w sized canopy's running 55w so they arnt against running smaller lamps.

Would expect the GEC, very little REVO stuff around Bury that I can think of, ill try and get a better shot before they all die.

There are quite a few surviving on that estate, the bowls are in poor condition though. I think the columns are saving the lanterns.

Looks like the same column on this estate too, but without the interesting lanterns https://goo.gl/maps/QyvuMZPWKmqkXRPB6

Here are a few more to have a crack at.

1. Kellett Street Bolton - 1 of two running SON possibly 50W   only 1 works   -    https://goo.gl/maps/ua3Y6yLY2zJibVcY9
2. Ringley Road Bury/Bolton Boundary. This think was out for about 8 years then they repaired it and left it dayburning for 18months - since replaceed with an ARC https://goo.gl/maps/tHUDzBeyMXDBzdWU8 (can be seen dayburning in later images)
3. Harwood Road, Tottington - https://goo.gl/maps/WMsck8z4UCCNY4Bo6 - Been dayburning for at least 15years, the lamp never seems to die! A couple of nearby identical lanterns have recently been replaced with LED lanterns.
4. Possibly same as 3? https://goo.gl/maps/Pd78dmDcPKcap1sGA https://goo.gl/maps/MSCbaFVpKPu3ew8y7 lovely lanterns arsey people on the street shouted at me for taking photos of them!

1. P109
2. Revo Hyperion B but the early version.
3 and both in 4 are all GEC Z9480.

Would anybody happen to know what these lanterns on King’s Road are ?

They have been there for about ten years.

Hey there ZQH,

The modern-style one is a Philips CDS594 "Metronomes"

:) Glad I could help.

Thanks for the identification  :D .  I don’t ever remember seeing these lanterns anywhere else so I thought it was unlikely that anyone would know.  I researched the Philips CDS594 and found out that those brackets too are made especially for that lantern.  They’ve always reminded me of GEC Z3430s or old French lanterns.

Hey, I'm new to this forum and I do not know much of the technical side of street lighting however I have recently learnt to identify some lanterns. Firstly please forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong place but I will get straight to the point. I'd like some help identifying some common and what I think are some rarer lanterns, I will start with more common ones since they're the ones I need to know about sooner. I will provide an image (from street view) plus the location if you need to look for yourself. Thank you to anyone who is able to help even in the slightest.

Firstly, there's these what I think are Thorn Alpha 3s https://ibb.co/HpF9qyj these I know are high pressure sodium ones, did they also get fitted with mercury bulbs? Their location is Whitby, High Bridge

Secondly, https://ibb.co/rtZqD0v I think these are GEC Z8830 these ones are located in Skelton, Tintern Road but can also be found at Loftus, South View in the car park and Loftus, Westfield Way behind a crash barrier.

https://ibb.co/h1D6npM These look like Philips SGS 201 often previously found where I live but they produce a light like a low pressure sodium light cycling from red to yellow, what are they called? I will provide more images of them located elsewhere. Also note the fancy column and nice paint job. This light is located at Anlaby, Cayley Road but similar ones can be found at Anlaby, Pryme Street, Anlaby, Hildyard Close and Willerby, Blackthorn Lane. https://ibb.co/80xkHPw this is one at Hull, Osborne Street not far from the Age UK building mounted on a 10m column which is strange to me having never seen them on anything higher than 8m. https://ibb.co/wdT7pbx this is an interesting one at Hull, Waterhouse Lane near Princes Quay, are both of these also low pressure sodium? The sky blue and white paint scheme was common in Anlaby and the surrounding villages being used on all side roads and some bigger roads however it is generally not maintained and I have not seen posts painted since the mid 00s and new posts are simply not painted. Is there any significance to the decoration on the first SGS 201 lantern and the colour scheme used in that area?

https://ibb.co/7v9yHm5 I have no idea what these are, I only ever saw them in Hull, they were located around Hull, 21 Osborne Street and also Hull, A165 near the Travel Lodge

https://ibb.co/f0jY6Ht and https://ibb.co/fD2vYtq I believe these to be GEC Z9454 but I am not sure since many lanterns look similar to me, these ones are located at Pickering, A170 around Street Lane intersection but they can also be found at Pickering, Potter Hill where the road forks. They used to be heavily used in Whitby, Old Malton, Malton and Norton too.

https://ibb.co/wN9PYw3 I think this is an Eleco GR501? They used to be quite common in my area. This was located at Loftus, The Station Pub/Hotel on Station Road.

https://ibb.co/TLfc64F this used to be directly opposite from the aforementioned 501, I have no idea what these are and I never saw the upper one working nor have I seen an identical lantern before thought I believe it to have been low pressure sodium.

https://ibb.co/94640vp I also have no idea what this is, this was located at Loftus, Zetland Road near the Coop, there was never many of them in my lifetime.

https://ibb.co/TrN1V0S here's a somewhat out of place looking ma90? (or 50 i dont know) that was installed in the mid 00s but removed a few years later, I think it had replaced a light of the same model as previously shown that was the next one down the road. The MA was replaced around 2010 when Redcar and Cleveland council was undergoing a county wide lantern and column replacement scheme that started around 2008, many of the columns were simply painted a forest green and not replaced. Now LED lights started to come in the past 3 or so years and many of the lights that had replaced the low pressure sodium ones are now gone after less than 10 years and in some cases the LED lights are still getting mounted on the old columns that were painted to look new.

Your first 3 lanterns are correctly named.  Lamps which start red and then go yellow are low pressure sodium or SOX.

Your unidentified lantern at 10m is a bit unclear from the image, but it could be a SGS201, although it would be unusual at that height, given they are 70W SON lanterns.

The Hull lantern on the big curved bracket is also a SGS201 on a Stewarts and Lloyd column from the 1960s. The SGS201 can run SOX but is more usual to run SON.

Your A165/Travelodge lantern is the very early version of the Philips SGS201.

You are correct on the GEC Z9454s and Eleco GR501,  the lantern you spotted opposite is a Revo C13721 or "Dalek" with a GEC 9530 below it.

The next lantern is a Thorn Beta 8.

Your last lantern is a Philips MA90, but with the gear inside the canopy.
